What Is Content Marketing Exactly?
It is possible that you have an idea what is content marketing but recognize it by a different name. It is often referred to as custom media, custom publishing, private media, member media, corporate publishing, branded media and corporate journalism to name a few. But, of course, they all add up to mean the same thing. If you own or operate a website or blog then this form of promotion could earn great revenue for your company.
It is the act of utilizing valuable information while aiming to attract, engage and acquire a highly targeted audience to do prompt them to do profitable business with a company. That is to say, that your content will be engulfed with information that will appeal to a certain audience while embedding paths to redirect them to other areas of interest. These redirected pages would be that of maybe an affiliated company or a company that has purchased advertising space from your website or blog.
If you have ever visited popular news websites, you may or may not have taken notice of the fact that there are certain words that are highlighted in blue and underlined. The words may also get larger once you put the mouse over it and a brief synopsis of the targeted link should appear in a small pop up box over the word. You may also have notice that if you should click on it it will redirect you the the page that was summarized to give you more information about it. That is a great example of the concept of this technique.
Like many things in life, it does come with a few advantages as it communicates valuable information with prospective customers without actually prompting them to make an immediate purchase. It doesn’t distract or interrupt the reader rather it encourages customer loyalty and awareness. Remember, the main idea of this technique is not to make a sale but to impart valuable, on-going and informative content to your customer base while offering effective promotions.
By now, you should be dying to give it a go. There is no doubt that it works as this technique is presently being used by some of the biggest companies internationally including Microsoft, P&G and even Cisco Systems. Not to mention that it is so versatile that even small businesses as well as ‘one-man shops’ across the world can utilize it. Persons often ask, why it is so popular but the response as been and always will be because it works.
